My mom has stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer which spread to the liver. She hasn't eaten more than a couple of bites of food in a week or so however she is continuing to drink water. She is starting to chew her pills now because she has a really hard shallowing them and stays in a confused state. The doctor says it is the medication, I'm not sure I agree but he doesn't she what I see. My question is when do I know to tell him to call hospice in? I'm really torn on this because she doesn't want to die. She has fought this disease with all she has. She is currently on Tarceva and with her swallowing problem I don't see the point.
